The beginning of 2025, saw the second swearing of Donald Trump as the US president, which was preceded by unpredictability in acceptance of both Republicans and the Democrats. The US election results presented an impressing victory to Republicans and Donald Trump over the Democrats. After one month, “The Washington Post” unveiled the survey conducted by them, along with IPSOS.

Trump’s second term is with a series of radical measures intended to dismantle and shrink the federal bureaucracy. Underestimate not -the Americans are always democratic and inclusiveness is in their blood. In a nutshell, Donald Trump’s decisions and measures have not been accepted by the majority Americans people, the Washington Post-IPSOS poll says.

Trump is using excessive authority or already overstepped his authority since taking office, people of the United States believe as per the poll. They also have apprehension about his friendship with billionaire Elon Musk. This alliance has the potential to sabotage many critical government programs according to a majority of the electorate.

The people are also clear about what the president should do if a federal court rules that he has done something illegal. The majority opinion is that the president should comply with the court’s ruling. Before gearing up, people had lost faith in Trump administration and the majority believe that the authority will be overstepped and the Supreme Court had to intervene. A majority disapproves Trump’s way of handling the economy, and a similar majority disapproves of the way he is handling the federal government.

On immigration, also opinions are divided, the poll says. Deporting immigrants is one of the most popular policy of Trump. But even then, most disagree with deporting those who have been in the country for more than 10 years, came as children, or are the parents of children who are U.S. citizens. Trump’s proposal to end birthright citizenship, which faces tough court scrutiny, also drew opposition from the majority.

Sad to add, a majority of Americans say Trump is not “honest and trustworthy.” People’s assessments of Musk, the billionaire entrepreneur who is overseeing efforts to revamp the executive branch of government, are worse than their assessments of Trump. Majority citizens are concerned that Musk’s team has access to individuals’ personal data.

The decision of President Trump to pardon all those convicted of crimes following the January 6, 2021 attack on the US Capitol made him most unpopular and unaccepted.

On Tuesday, February 4, US President Donald Trump signed an executive order that will withdraw Washington from several United Nations institutions, including the Human Rights Council (UNHRC), and launch a broad review of US funding for the multilateral body.

The executive order also says that Washington has been withdrawn from the UNHRC and the main United Nations relief agency for Palestinians (UNRWA), and will review its participation in the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO).

This is an indicator of Trump’s arrogance. It is the beginning of a “US-made disaster”. All other countries in the world consider US reluctance to sign a joint pledge at the AI Action Summit, withdrawal from the WHO and the global climate trials as a warning.

Just one photo tweeted by the White House is enough to understand the degradation. This is the first time we see a US leader so utterly devoid of ethics and humanity.

Trump’s popularity among US citizens had plummeted because of these decisions taken in the past month. This reminds of the extra-extreme-dynamic society which human are a part. Every human being is highly sensitive and reactive. No government can conclude that the citizens will always be totally submissive, particularly the US citizens.
