ഇതിഹാസ എഴുത്തുകാരനും, അഭിഭാഷകനും, നയതന്ത്രജ്ഞനും, പത്രപ്രവർത്തകനും, രാഷ്ട്രീയക്കാരനുമായ ഖുശ്വന്ത് സിങ്ങിനെ, അദ്ദേഹത്തിൻ്റെ 108-ാം ജന്മവാർഷികത്തിൽ ഇന്ത്യ ഇന്ന് സ്മരിക്കുന്നു. 1915 ഫെബ്രുവരി 2 ന് പാകിസ്ഥാനിലെ ഹദാലിയിൽ ജനിച്ച സിങ്ങിൻ്റെ ജീവിതം അദ്ദേഹത്തിൻ്റെ ബഹുമുഖ വ്യക്തിത്വത്തിൻ്റെയും ഇന്ത്യൻ സാഹിത്യത്തിന് നൽകിയ സംഭാവനകളുടെയും തെളിവായിരുന്നു.1947ലെ ഇന്ത്യാ വിഭജനസമയത്ത് സിങ്ങിൻ്റെ അനുഭവം അദ്ദേഹത്തിൻ്റെ എഴുത്തിനെ ആഴത്തിൽ സ്വാധീനിച്ചു, പ്രത്യേകിച്ച് 1956-ൽ പ്രസിദ്ധീകരിച്ച അദ്ദേഹത്തിൻ്റെ ഐതിഹാസിക നോവൽ, "ട്രെയിൻ ടു പാകിസ്ഥാൻ". പിന്നീട് 1998-ൽ സിനിമയായി രൂപാന്തരപ്പെടുത്തിയ ഈ കൃതി അദ്ദേഹത്തിൻ്റെ ഏറ്റവും പ്രശസ്തമായ നോവലായി തുടരുന്നു....
